Effective date: 2026-05-16 Version: 1.0
These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of CoExyst, including our websites, apps, software, features, communications, subscriptions, and related services.
CoExyst is operated by SHAUN MICHAEL HODGKINSON, ABN 80 554 964 227.
Notices and contact: PO Box 468 Wynnum QLD 4178 Australia support@coexyst.app
By creating an account, joining a household, using CoExyst, or continuing to use CoExyst after these Terms are updated, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use CoExyst.
⸻
CoExyst is a shared-household coordination platform.
It helps users manage household activity such as:
CoExyst is designed to help people coordinate clearly, reduce friction, and keep household responsibilities more transparent.
⸻
CoExyst is a coordination and recordkeeping tool. It is not:
CoExyst may help users record bills, allocations, payments, reimbursements, shared-card use, and settlement status. Those records are based on information entered by users or connected services.
CoExyst does not independently verify every household obligation, decide who is legally liable for a debt, guarantee payment, enforce repayment, or resolve personal disputes between household members.
You are responsible for checking real-world obligations before relying on any record, reminder, allocation, settlement amount, or export.
⸻
You must be legally able to enter into these Terms.
You must be at least 16 years old to use CoExyst, unless a higher minimum age applies in your location.
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your location, to:
If you use CoExyst on behalf of another person, business, organisation, property, household, or group, you confirm that you have authority to do so.
⸻
You are responsible for:
You must not share your login credentials, impersonate another person, create accounts using false information, or use another person’s account without permission.
We may require additional verification before granting access to sensitive account, billing, household, export, or privacy-related features.
⸻
CoExyst works through household spaces.
A household may include roles such as owner, admin, member, viewer, or other permission levels we make available.
Depending on the features enabled, household owners or admins may be able to:
Household owners and admins are responsible for using those powers fairly and lawfully.
A household role does not give a user unlimited access to another user’s private information. Visibility is controlled by the Service’s privacy rules, feature settings, and applicable law.
Removing a user from a household may stop their future access, but it may not delete historical records where those records are needed for household continuity, audit trails, dispute handling, security, legal compliance, or the legitimate operation of the Service.
⸻
CoExyst supports both shared and personal household records.
Shared records may be visible to other users in the relevant household, depending on role, feature, and permission settings.
Personal records are intended to remain private or masked except where the Service clearly states otherwise.
For example, personal household items may be shown to other users only in a limited form where needed for coordination, allocation, settlement, audit, or safety of the household system. This may include generic information such as a label, amount, date, or status, without revealing private details.
CoExyst may support workflows where another user requests more detail about a personal record. Unless the Service clearly says otherwise, private details are not automatically unmasked simply because another user requests them.
You are responsible for choosing the correct visibility setting when adding content to CoExyst.
⸻
Your use of CoExyst is also governed by our Privacy Policy.
The Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, protect, and handle personal information.
Where CoExyst provides privacy controls, masking, visibility settings, exports, search, notifications, or household access rules, those controls are part of the trust model of the Service.
We aim to apply privacy rules consistently across:
You must not use CoExyst to access, infer, extract, pressure, expose, or misuse another person’s private information.
⸻
“User Content” means anything you or another user submits, uploads, creates, records, sends, stores, or shares through CoExyst.
This may include messages, tasks, list items, bill records, allocation notes, settlement records, files, comments, labels, names, reminders, categories, household settings, and other information.
You keep ownership of your User Content.
You give us a limited licence to host, process, store, transmit, display, reproduce, and use your User Content as reasonably necessary to:
You are responsible for your User Content and for making sure you have the right to upload or share it.
You must not upload or share content that is unlawful, abusive, misleading, invasive, discriminatory, harassing, defamatory, fraudulent, infringing, or otherwise harmful.
⸻
CoExyst includes features for recording and coordinating household money activity.
These may include:
CoExyst separates different money concepts.
For example:
You must not manipulate records to mislead other users about who paid, who benefited, who owes, or whether something has been settled.
CoExyst may calculate balances or suggested settlement amounts from the records available to it. These calculations are only as accurate as the underlying records, permissions, settings, and user inputs.
You are responsible for confirming amounts, payment details, account details, due dates, tax treatment, legal obligations, and real-world payment status before acting on them.
⸻
CoExyst may allow users to mark bills, reimbursements, allocations, or settlements as paid, unpaid, pending, disputed, waived, cancelled, or otherwise resolved.
Marking something paid in CoExyst is a recordkeeping action. It does not necessarily mean that money has actually moved unless CoExyst expressly confirms that a payment has been processed through a supported payment feature.
If you mark something paid, settled, waived, or resolved, you confirm that you have a reasonable basis for doing so.
CoExyst is not responsible for enforcing repayment between household members.
⸻
CoExyst may support shared-card or shared-funding-source records.
A shared card or shared funding source is not automatically proof that all transactions on that card or source are shared household expenses.
Users remain responsible for classifying transactions correctly.
Personal transactions made using a shared card or shared funding source may remain personal and masked, subject to the Service’s privacy rules and applicable household settings.
CoExyst may display limited information about personal transactions where needed to preserve ledger accuracy, allocation integrity, auditability, or settlement correctness.
⸻
CoExyst may offer free plans, paid plans, trials, subscriptions, add-ons, usage-based features, promotional offers, or other paid services.
Paid features may be billed monthly, annually, or on another basis shown at the time of purchase.
By starting a paid plan, you authorise us or our payment processor to charge the applicable fees, taxes, and charges using your selected payment method.
Unless stated otherwise at purchase, subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.
You can cancel a subscription using the cancellation method made available in the Service or through the relevant app store or payment provider.
Cancellation stops future renewal. It may not immediately remove access already paid for during the current billing period unless we state otherwise or applicable law requires otherwise.
If payment fails, we may suspend, downgrade, restrict, or cancel access to paid features after reasonable attempts to notify you, unless the law requires a different process.
We may change subscription prices, plan names, feature inclusions, billing intervals, or entitlements. Where a change materially affects a paid subscription, we will provide notice where required and give you any cancellation, refund, or other rights required by law.
Refunds are handled according to applicable law, the terms shown at purchase, any additional subscription terms, and the rules of the payment provider or app store used for purchase.
Nothing in these Terms limits refund, cancellation, cooling-off, consumer guarantee, or other rights that cannot legally be excluded.
⸻
CoExyst may offer trials, discounts, credits, coupons, referral offers, launch pricing, or other promotions.
Promotional terms may be time-limited and may include eligibility conditions.
We may refuse, cancel, or reverse a promotion if we reasonably believe it has been obtained through mistake, misuse, fraud, duplicate accounts, automation, or conduct that breaches these Terms.
If a trial converts into a paid subscription, we will disclose the relevant terms at or before the time you start the trial.
⸻
CoExyst may offer rewards, points, badges, streaks, credits, recognition, participation scores, or similar features.
Unless expressly stated otherwise:
We may change, pause, or discontinue rewards features. Where required by law, we will provide notice before materially affecting accrued rights.
You must not manipulate rewards systems through fake activity, duplicate accounts, collusion, automation, fraud, or other misuse.
⸻
CoExyst may send notifications, reminders, emails, push notifications, in-app messages, billing notices, household alerts, security notices, and service updates.
Notifications and reminders are provided for convenience only.
You remain responsible for checking actual due dates, payment obligations, rent obligations, bills, events, tasks, and household responsibilities.
We do not guarantee that every notification will be delivered, received, read, accurate, or delivered at a particular time.
You can manage some notification preferences in the Service, but we may still send important administrative, billing, legal, privacy, or security notices.
⸻
CoExyst may allow users to export household records.
Exports are subject to role, permission, privacy, masking, and visibility rules.
You must not export, share, publish, or use another person’s information in a way that breaches these Terms, violates privacy rights, or causes harm.
Exported records may be incomplete, limited, masked, or filtered depending on your access rights.
You are responsible for securing exported data after you download, copy, or share it.
⸻
CoExyst may use or integrate with third-party services, including payment processors, app stores, authentication providers, analytics providers, hosting services, email providers, notification services, banking or transaction data providers, calendar services, wallet services, or other tools.
Third-party services may have their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for third-party services, except where the law says otherwise.
If a third-party service becomes unavailable, changes its terms, changes its API, experiences an outage, or stops supporting a feature, CoExyst features that rely on that service may be affected.
⸻
You must use CoExyst responsibly.
You must not:
We may investigate suspected misuse and take action where reasonably necessary.
⸻
CoExyst is built for shared-household coordination, but it cannot guarantee that household members will behave fairly, honestly, safely, or respectfully.
You are responsible for your real-world conduct.
Do not use CoExyst as a substitute for emergency services, legal advice, tenancy advice, domestic violence support, financial advice, mental health support, or professional dispute resolution.
If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services or an appropriate local support service.
⸻
We aim to keep CoExyst reliable and useful, but we do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or compatible with every device, browser, network, or integration.
We may perform maintenance, updates, security work, migrations, backups, or infrastructure changes.
Some features may be unavailable, delayed, degraded, changed, or removed.
Where practical, we will try to reduce disruption, especially for paid users, but outages and changes may still occur.
⸻
Some CoExyst features may be labelled or treated as beta, preview, early access, experimental, limited release, or trial features.
These features may be less stable, less complete, or more likely to change.
We may modify, reset, limit, pause, or remove beta features at any time.
You should not rely on beta features for critical, legal, financial, emergency, or irreversible decisions.
⸻
We take reasonable steps to protect CoExyst, but no system is perfectly secure.
You must not test, scan, attack, exploit, or bypass CoExyst security without written permission.
If you discover a vulnerability or security issue, you must report it responsibly to support@coexyst.app and avoid accessing, modifying, deleting, copying, or disclosing data that does not belong to you.
We may suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect users, households, data, infrastructure, or the Service.
⸻
CoExyst, including its software, design, interface, workflows, text, graphics, logos, icons, branding, features, systems, databases, documentation, and related materials, is owned by us or our licensors.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of CoExyst to you.
You receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use CoExyst in accordance with these Terms.
You must not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works from CoExyst except where we expressly allow it or the law permits it.
⸻
If you give us ideas, suggestions, bug reports, feature requests, or other feedback, you allow us to use that feedback without restriction or payment to you.
We appreciate feedback, but we are not required to implement it or treat it as confidential unless we separately agree in writing.
⸻
You may close your account using the available account tools or by contacting us.
Closing your account may remove or restrict your access to CoExyst, including households, records, exports, subscriptions, rewards, and historical activity.
Some records may remain after account closure where reasonably needed to:
We handle personal information according to our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
⸻
We may suspend, restrict, downgrade, or terminate your access to CoExyst if we reasonably believe that:
Where reasonable, we will try to give notice. However, we may act without prior notice where needed for security, legal compliance, fraud prevention, user safety, privacy protection, or service integrity.
Termination does not remove obligations that reasonably continue after access ends, including payment obligations, privacy obligations, intellectual property protections, liability limits, dispute terms, and restrictions on misuse.
⸻
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CoExyst is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.
We do not guarantee that:
You are responsible for reviewing and verifying important information before relying on it.
⸻
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right, guarantee, warranty, or remedy that cannot legally be excluded, restricted, or modified.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, punitive, or consequential loss, including loss of profit, loss of opportunity, loss of goodwill, loss of data, household disputes, missed reminders, unpaid bills, incorrect user-entered records, or failed payments between household members.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to CoExyst is limited to the greater of:
This limitation does not apply where liability cannot legally be limited, including where required by applicable consumer protection law.
⸻
To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for losses, claims, damages, costs, or expenses that arise from:
This does not make you responsible for losses caused by our breach of these Terms or by matters that the law does not allow us to pass on to you.
⸻
Some consumer rights depend on where you live.
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies rights that cannot legally be excluded, restricted, or modified.
This includes rights under the Australian Consumer Law and any applicable consumer protection laws in the European Union, United Kingdom, or other relevant jurisdictions.
If CoExyst fails to meet a non-excludable consumer guarantee or mandatory legal obligation, you may have rights to remedies under applicable law.
⸻
We may improve, change, add, remove, rename, redesign, restrict, or discontinue parts of CoExyst.
We may do this for reasons including security, reliability, legal compliance, user safety, product improvement, technical changes, commercial changes, or to prevent misuse.
Where a change materially affects a paid plan, privacy setting, household money feature, or other important user right, we will provide notice where required by law.
⸻
We may update these Terms from time to time.
When we update them, we will publish the updated version with a new effective date.
Where required, we may notify you in-app, by email, or through another reasonable method.
Where required, we may ask you to review and accept updated Terms before continuing to use CoExyst or certain features.
If you do not agree to updated Terms, you must stop using CoExyst. You may also cancel any paid subscription using the available cancellation method.
Continued use of CoExyst after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms, except where the law requires a different process.
⸻
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, unless mandatory laws in your location require otherwise.
You agree that courts and tribunals in Queensland, Australia may hear disputes relating to these Terms, unless applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
If you are a consumer outside Australia, you may have mandatory rights under local law that these Terms do not override.
⸻
If you have a concern, contact us first at support@coexyst.app.
We will try to resolve issues fairly and efficiently.
Before starting formal proceedings, you agree to give us a reasonable opportunity to respond, unless urgent legal action is needed or the law gives you a right to proceed immediately.
Nothing in this section limits any non-excludable consumer right, regulatory complaint right, privacy complaint right, or urgent legal remedy.
⸻
If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, unfair, or unenforceable, that part will be removed or limited to the minimum extent necessary.
The rest of the Terms will continue to apply where legally possible.
⸻
If we do not enforce a right immediately, that does not mean we give up that right.
A waiver must be clear and in writing to be effective.
⸻
You must not transfer your account or rights under these Terms without our permission.
We may transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms as part of a merger, acquisition, restructure, sale of assets, change of operator, or legal transfer, provided this does not reduce your non-excludable legal rights.
⸻
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms shown for specific features, subscriptions, promotions, rewards, app stores, or integrations, form the agreement between you and us for your use of CoExyst.
If there is a conflict between these Terms and specific feature terms, the specific feature terms apply for that feature, unless they would reduce rights that cannot legally be excluded.
